About these terms
ReturnMate is intended for accountants, tax advisers, and accountancy practices using the service in a professional capacity. It is not offered here as a personal self-service tax-filing product for the general public.
These terms cover the ReturnMate website and set out the general conditions for using ReturnMate services when made available. A customer order identifies the legal supplier, service scope, fees, and any additional terms. Where an accepted order conflicts with these general terms, the order governs that service, subject to applicable law.
Product information
Information about features, availability, and pricing may change during private beta. A product illustration or roadmap item is not a commitment to supply a particular feature. Only services expressly included in an accepted customer agreement form part of a subscription.
The early-access form registers an enquiry about availability for your practice. It does not create a tax-service account, grant immediate product access, or authorise payment or an automatic renewal.
Independent software
ReturnMate is independent of HMRC. References to UK tax requirements do not imply HMRC endorsement, approval, certification, or recognition. Any statement about a live integration or recognition will identify the status actually achieved for the relevant service.
Information and tax advice
Website content is general product information. It is not individual tax, accounting, or legal advice. Customers should obtain advice appropriate to their circumstances and check relevant official guidance. Browsing the website does not appoint ReturnMate as a tax adviser or agent.
Acceptable use
Do not use the website to break the law, introduce malware, interfere with service, misrepresent your identity, bypass access controls, or attempt to access someone else’s information. Any security testing must have appropriate written authorisation and a defined scope.
Intellectual property
Rights in the ReturnMate brand, software, and original website material belong to their respective owners. You may view and reference website content for legitimate personal or business purposes. You must not imply an affiliation, endorsement, or ownership that does not exist.
External services and availability
Links to external websites are provided for reference. Their operators are responsible for their content and terms. Website access may be interrupted for maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances outside our control. Service-level commitments, if any, are stated in a separate customer agreement.
Responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Applicable consumer rights remain unaffected. These website terms do not replace any rights or remedies in a customer’s service agreement.
Privacy and changes
Read the Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice for information about website data handling. We may revise these terms; the date above identifies the latest update. Questions can be raised using the contact method in your ReturnMate correspondence.
Accounts and customer responsibilities
Customers must provide accurate account information, nominate authorised users, protect credentials, and use required authentication controls. Remove staff access when it is no longer needed. Practices must have authority to process each client’s information and authorise tax work on their behalf.
Customers are responsible for reviewing information, calculations, returns, and required client approvals before submission. A submission attempt is not evidence of acceptance; customers must check the returned status or receipt and allow time to resolve errors before a deadline. Nothing in these terms removes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subscriptions and cancellation
The accepted order states the charges, applicable taxes, billing period, renewal arrangements, cancellation method, trial conditions, and refund rights. No payment or renewal is authorised without acceptance of those arrangements. Applicable consumer cancellation and statutory rights remain unaffected.
Data, confidentiality, and service exit
Customers retain their rights in their records. ReturnMate may process those records only as necessary to provide the agreed service and comply with applicable law. Practice-client processing is governed by the Data Processing Agreement, including confidentiality, security, providers, transfers, assistance, and return or deletion.
On exit, customers can request export and return or deletion in accordance with the agreement and the retention arrangements in the Privacy Policy. Proportionate suspension may be necessary to address security risks, unlawful use, or a material breach, with notice where lawful and practical. Customers should retain records needed for their own legal obligations.
